Otonabee Animal Hospital FAQs

Why mobile service?

How often has it been inconvenient or impossible to take your pet to your veterinarian? Mobile service extends the reach of our veterinarians to those who cannot travel with their pets. We are able to provide health checks, vaccinations, laboratory sampling procedures, first aid for minor conditions, as well as behavioural counseling in your home. We also provide transportation for pets scheduled for surgery in our clinic, as well as delivery of medications and products for those clients needing this service.

What makes OAH unique?

Otonabee Animal Hospital was preceded by Rorke Veterinary House Call Services, established in 1996 as a strictly mobile practice. From the beginning, the emphasis has been on service to our clients, in particular, mobile service to their homes. We began with one doctor, one telephone, one pager, one vehicle, and very limited resources. In the past several years, we have built a clinic, added an associate and several support staff (see About Us) and have still been able to maintain our prompt, in-home service. We offer pick-up and delivery service, both for patients and for pet supplies. We provide many of our clients with specially-ordered products, ensuring freshness of the foods you require by only stocking a small selection. The extra effort our staff puts in to help each client get exactly what they need has been one of our greatest accomplishments, and we are happy to continue to provide this high level of service.  Recognition of our high standard of care was achieved at the end of June 2008 by the successful completion of a rigorous assessment by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). We are now the only clinic in our area to have accomplished this, and are determined, through the standards inposed by AAHA, to maintain this level of service to our clients and care to our patients. Our staff deserves high praise for their hard work and determination in completing this task. Please visit the AAHA website at www.aahanet.org or the AAHA pet owner website at www.healthypet.com to learn more.
